Hey everyone, this is Josh, and as you know I am the chief editor of this site here at the MNB Wrestling Report. Monday night I had the oppertunity to do one of the things that reminds me that no matter how bad things may get sometimes, there is a reason I am a fan of this great buisness of professional wrestling. I was at the 1000th episode of Raw live in St. Louis, and it was an experience I wont soon forget.
I was really struggling to decide on how I wanted to write this little article. Did I want to do a run through of the show and what I thought, but in the end I decided that wasn’t the right way to go. I decided the best thing I could do is just share my thoughts, share my experience, and share the feelings that I had being there at the show. I have been to many WWE events at this point, and they are always great experiences. Knowing that 90% of the people there are all fellow wrestling fans is just an awesome thing. (Yes I say 90%, some of them were parrents taking kids that are young wrestling fans and the parrents know nothing of wrestling.) The crowd there was amped up before things even started. As we stood, sweating in 105 degree heat in the parking garage, Yes Yes Yes chants would break out randomly, as would Let’s Go Cena/Cena Sucks dueling chants.
The new video WWE load in was awesome, and the video package summerizing the last 999 episodes of Raw was incredible and put me into a somewhat interesting state of mind. I became somewhat more refective and stayed that way for the rest of the show.
As I watched the show, things that would normally bother me when I watch Raw didn’t bother me. As I watched all the old faces make their apperences I was flooded with memories. There wasn’t a single segment that I hated on this show, and for me, I’ve realized the best way to describe how this show made me feel can be summed up talking about one segment.
I finally saw The Undertaker live.
I finally experienced The Undertaker live.
I have always been a huge Taker fan for years, but I have NEVER had the luck sience I got back into wrestling at Wrestlemania 23 after I lost touch with it for a while when I had no way to watch it as a kid, I have NEVER had the luck to see him live in person. Every time I thought I might, something would happen and I would lose that chance.
That chance finally came for me on Monday night. The smile on my face was so big. I didn’t mark out. I didn’t jump up and down. I just sat there.
And I smiled.
And I realized there, as I soaked in Undertaker’s entrance, and I saw him and Kane take out the geeks, and I heard the crowd chanting “This is awesome!” over and over again.
This is why I am a fan of pro wrestling.
And that is something, of which I am very proud.
